Wedding dress code ideas generator
Choose how formal, the setting, the season and a colour mood, and get a named dress code, invitation line, website text, colour palette and tips for guests.
What it does
Pick four things: how formal the day is, the setting, the season and a colour mood. The generator gives you a dress code with a name, the short line for your invitation, a plain-language explanation for your website, three colours to suggest, practical tips for guests, and what to ask them to avoid.
Where a colour mood follows what 2026 style guides reported, such as butter yellow and sage, it says so and links to the sources. We checked them in October 2026; trends move, so treat them as ideas, not rules.
Why name your dress code?
"Cocktail attire" leaves guests guessing. "Pastel garden cocktail, with block heels for the lawn" tells them what to wear and why. Guests are more comfortable, and your photos look like one celebration.
Tips
- Put one or two words on the invitation and the explanation on your website.
- Make colours a suggestion, not a rule: "we would love to see", "wear what makes you feel good".
- Think about shoes. Grass, sand and gravel matter more than the name of the dress code.
- Answer questions with the website text, and change it if many guests ask.

Questions
Is it free?
Yes. No sign-up, and nothing you choose is sent anywhere.
Are the colours trends?
Three of the colour moods follow 2026 guides, and the tool links to them. The others are classic choices. Trends change, so check what feels right for you.
Can guests wear white?
It is safest to ask guests to avoid white, ivory and cream unless you want them to wear it. The tool adds that line for you.
Does it use AI?
No. It combines advice we wrote for each choice, so the same choices always give the same result.
