Wedding invitation wording generator
Answer a few questions and get finished wedding invitation wording in a formal, warm or light-hearted voice, plus lines for your website. Free, no sign-up.
What it does
Tell the generator who is hosting, what the invitation is for and the details of the day. It writes the invitation in the order guests expect: who is hosting, the request, the couple's names, the date and time, the place, what follows, and how to reply.
It handles the usual situations: both families hosting, the couple hosting, one family hosting, divorced parents hosting together, a reception only, a celebration after a private ceremony, and a destination wedding. You can choose a formal, warm or light-hearted voice, and a Christian, Muslim, Hindu or Sikh wording where that suits your ceremony.
Lines that are better on a website than on the invitation itself (adults only, no gifts, plus-ones, dress code) come out separately, and so does a short text-message version.
Nothing you type leaves your browser. The address in the bar updates as you type, so you can copy it to come back to your wording later or send it to a family member.
Tips
- Fill in everything you know. Where a detail is missing the wording shows a bracket such as [venue], so you can see what is left to add.
- Read the result aloud. If a line sounds stiff, change the voice or edit it after you copy it.
- Check wording for a religious ceremony with your officiant or an elder in your family. Traditions differ by region and family.
For the thinking behind each line, read our guide to wedding invitation wording, and the one for divorced parents and blended families. To work out when to send it, use the invitation timeline.
Questions
Is it free?
Yes. There is nothing to sign up for and nothing to install.
Can I change the wording afterwards?
Yes. Copy it and edit it anywhere. It is a starting point written to read well, not a fixed script.
Does it work for Hindu, Muslim and Sikh weddings?
It gives a short blessing line and the ceremony name for each, such as the nikah or the Anand Karaj. Many families have their own wording, so treat it as a starting point and check it with your officiant or an elder.
Why are adults only and no gifts not on the invitation?
Those lines can read as demands when printed on the invitation. A kind line on your website or reply page works better, so the generator puts them in their own box.
Does it store my details?
No. It runs in your browser and sends nothing to us. If you share the address, the names in it are visible to whoever you send it to.
